What better setting could there be to learn how to tell your garden's story than at Write On, Door County!

This 'Every Garden Has A Story' program is comprised of two 45-minute parts, one taught by professional photography Kasey Hock (outdoors) and one by Sonja Durkee (indoors).

(1) Documenting a garden with IMAGES (Kasey Hock):

The Door Garden Club welcomes back professional photographer, Kasey Hock, for the second year.  This time she will guide us in capturing great images to be able to tell a garden's story with picutures 'worth a thousand words' using our smartphones.  Each of her two 50-minute classes is limited to 10 people.  They will take place outdoors, rain or shine, in the beautiful prairie gardens at Write On, Door County.  Participants should bring their own water bottle, dress casually, and bring an umbrella if rain is forecast.

(2) Documenting a garden with WORDS, DRAWINGS, and Google Earth (Sonja Durkee):

As a Garden Club of America Garden History and Design Representative for 18 Midwestern GCA clubs for the past year, Sonja has learned how to document a garden for the Smithsonian Institution's Archives of American Gardens.  She's excited to share with you how to get started with documenting your garden, whether it's for your own records, for your grandchildren, or perhaps for a local Door County historical society.   She will also show you how to access the Smithsonian's Archives of American Gardens Collections online.  These include 65,000 photographic images and records that document historic and contemporary gardens throughout the United States, and date back to the 1890's.  Sonja's 45 minute program will be held indoors.

Sign up for Kasey's smartphone photo Class A from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. and Sonja's overview program from 2:00 - 2:45 p.m.

- OR -

Sign up for Sonja's overview program from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. and Kasey's smartphone photo Class B from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m.

Sign up and payment for Kasey's photo classes is required here on the Door Garden Club website.

There is no fee for Sonja's portion of the program that will include a short Door Garden Club meeting.  But sign up for it is also required as space is limited.

Individuals who are not enrolled in one of Kasey's photo classes may attend Sonja's overview program and meeting at no charge.  Again, sign up is required for all participants here on the DGC website as space is limited.
